GP-5 Gas Mask Kit

- original Soviet surplus - unused

- black latex rubber gas mask with filter and carrying bag - these masks came in white and black color (black was made in smaller quantities)

- mask was issued in a very basic khaki fabric bag with two straps, one to hold the bag over the shoulder, and the other to keep it tight around the waist

- masks were manufactured between 1962 and 1990 

- these are 1989 and 1990 surplus

- these gas masks are over 30 years old and are not intended to be used, ... unless you want to scare your children for getting bad grades or give a heart attack to your favourite neighbour. But seriously, don't use it.

- rubber is deteriorating and the mask has some cracks on the folds

- gas mask filter is believed to have asbestos in it (DO NOT USE IT), well older masks do, supposedly they replaced the asbestos with activated carbon, but you never know what Soviets were up to back then

- it's still a great piece of military memorabilia - ideal for all history enthusiasts and collectors
